Thursday 1st February 2001 (14:30)The IRC Team's work in NW India is now complete and they are beginning the long journey home. We expect them to arrive in the UK at about 19:30 tomorrow (Friday). Tuesday 30th January 2001 (12:45)Report received that the IRC Team have rescued another survivor, a 24 year old male, uninjured, and are trying to locate his family. Tuesday 30th January 2001 (12:00)Team working alongside THW dog team. Very hot working conditions 35-38 deg Celsius. More aftershocks but all Team members fit and well. Monday 29th January 2001 (20:00)As of this morning, the number of casualties rescued by British SAR teams has risen to 5. Most of the IRC work has been responding to requests by locals and they have been kept very busy, with breaks taken as and when possible. More teams are arriving from around the world, including Russia, Japan, Germany, France, Switzerland, Hungary and Turkey. It looks as though the main SAR phase will last a couple more days and then wound down. Morale is good and all IRC Team members are fit and well. Sunday 28th January 2001 (18:00)UK rescue teams have searched 17 buildings so far and recovered 3 casualties. 2 aftershocks since arriving in the area. Sunday 28th January 2001 (15:30)IRC Team have recovered a live casualty (female). Sunday 28th January 2001 (07:45)Team has arrived after 11hrs in Bhuj. All personnel and equipment on site and allocated a base camp near the co-ordination centre. Team 1has been deployed and is working on a 5 storey office block. Local reports of noise from survivors and, as yet, unconfirmed reports of voices. All team are fit and well and looking forward to starting work. Saturday 27th January 2001 (22:00)Team arrived at Ahmedabad Airport and are now waiting for transport to travel to Bhuj, a 10 hour drive away. Population 440,000 of which 120,000 are still reported missing; an initial assessment by the Indian government was that 90% of building damaged. All the team are fit and well. Saturday 27th January 2001 (20:00)IRC have a team of 17 en-route with DFID. They left RAF Brize Norton at 0939hrs this morning and should arrive in India at 2130hrs GMT this evening. Friday 26th January 2001The International Rescue Corps is mobilising a Team to help in the search and rescue efforts in NW India. News will be posted here as it becomes available.
