April 05Welcome to the monthly newsletter from International Rescue Corps. This newsletter is designed to give you a brief look into our work and some of the activities we get up to. It has been fairly quiet recently apart from the Indonesian earthquake – we had a team on standby but it was felt that there was so much help already in the area that our services were not required. Our AGM this month sparked lively debates but as always it was nice to see new and old members in a more relaxed setting. In this edition:- • IRC has a new National Training Officer IRC has a new National Training OfficerFollowing the recent AGM, IRC has a new National Training Officer. John Ryan, from North Yorkshire, took up the post. He has been a member of IRC for a number of years and is a serving officer in the Royal Navy. He currently commands a Naval reserve unit and has extensive experience in coordinating training programmes for naval reservists (all of who are civilians similar to IRC members). John is just finding his feet but we look forward to his enthusiasm in implementing a better coordinated approach to training. The corps would like to wish him the very best in this very demanding role! IRC’s new ambulance generates interestWell, finally, the new ambulance is ready and has already been in use – in fact, only the other weekend the ambulance was being used in a training exercise in Elgin, Scotland. Members of the public noticed the van and swamped the local press demanding to know if there had been a disaster as International Rescue Corps were around! We quickly had to explain that it was only an exercise! Don’t forget “Still for Sale”T-shirts = £8 Anyone interested in buying any of these please contact Julie Ryan –
press@intrescue.org. Don’t forget our new promotional video and new brochure A new 12 minute promotional video is now available to promote the work and ongoing dedication of IRC. Members are able to use this for talks and lectures. A new brochure has been printed also. This can be downloaded on the ‘download’ section of this web site. Anyone wishing a hard copy of the brochure or a copy of the video (available
in CDROM, DVD and VHS formats) please contact Julie Ryan –
