Confirmed Team returning to RAF Lyneham tomorrow.  They have been working in Duzce in co-operation with Turkish Miners, UK Fire Service Rescue Team and a Russian team.   All members are reported to be fit and well.

The IRC team and the team from the Fire Service broke camp today at 0830hrs local time. They are travelling back to Istanbul today and will fly home tomorrow.

Sunday 14th November 1999

19:30

IRC search and rescue teams have been working on three sites in Duzce.  At this time they are working on a site which they believe has one live casualty and one body.

There are approximately 1300 search team personnel in Duzce and each team has a limited number of sites.  It is believed that once teams have completed their search areas, arrangements will be made for their return home.

A meeting is underway with the UN team in charge and all SAR team senior personnel to discuss the timed ending of the search and rescue phase.

DFID have unconfirmed reports that UK teams have recovered two live casualties.

Search efforts are proceeding well and the IRC Team are currently working on a site which, they believe, has a live casualty.  The weather is cool and damp.  All Team members are fit and well.

Saturday 13th November 1999

21:15

Seventeen search and rescue specialists and two search dogs have arrived in Turkey having left the UK 09:30 from RAF Lyneham via a C130 aircraft.

The Team arrived in Izmit and was transported to Duzce by helicopters from HMS Ocean.   They are currently awaiting instructions.

A four man team of logistics experts from DFID will arrive tomorrow.

Friday 12th November 1999

Having received reports of another earthquake in Turkey (6.7-7.2 magnitude, centred around Duzce) the International Rescue Corps have placed an offer of assistance which has been accepted.  A Team is currently being mobilised and transport to Turkey being arranged through DFID.

More details to follow as they become available.
